Album Details

To Canadian jazz fans, he needs no introduction. Oliver Jones is one of the best known and best loved jazz musicians ever to have emerged from this country. His awards are numerous and his achievements, whether in the jazz community, the black community or on concert stages internationally, have made both he and his admirers very proud. This new album, his seventeenth, represents a fascinating benchmark in an already storied career—classic, but contemporary.

Last fall Oliver entered the studio with stalwart bassist Dave Young and young powerhouse drummer Jim Doxas. The addition of trumpet sensation Ingrid Jensen and rising tenor sax star Chet Doxas on several tracks make the session an entirely Canadian affair, and it should also be noted that Jones, ever a champion of up-and-coming Canadian talent, has made good on his promise by hiring some of its finest examples.

The album’s title alludes to his reemergence on both the concert front and the recording studio, after a brief but much-publicized hiatus. One of the finest recordings in a career filled with superlatives, One More Time is the excited work of a tireless musician with much to say.
