Album Details

For his second Justin Time recording, saxophonist François Carrier is joined by two giants of jazz, Paul Bley and Gary Peacock, as well as his regular cohort, drummer Michel Lambert. An accomplished and acclaimed improviser, François Carrier enthralls the listener with his intense and original playing. Inspired by the vibrating and dynamic power of sound, he explores various emotional atmospheres and celebrates the ephemeral beauty of the moment. Whether his mood is meditative playful, Carrier is always unpredictable.

Born in Chicoutimi, Quebec, François Carrier began his musical education by playing the saxophone, his favorite instrument, and later discovered jazz as a teenager after hearing Phil Woods. In 1990 he put together the François Carrier Trio, which developed a large repertoire of original music. 1994 marked the launching of their first CD, Poursuite. The second CD, Intuition, released in 1997, also received a warm response and a nomination at the Gala de l'ADISQ for Jazz Album of the Year in 1998. Later that year, Carrier appeared in a series of concerts in Quebec City with special guest Dewey Redman on tenor saxophone.
