Pour faire suite au succès remporté par ONE LIFE, le plus récent album de Johnny Clegg (2006) et afin de célébrer son passage au prochain Festival d’Été de Québec, les disques Justin Time sont fiers de mettre sur le marché une version domestique de cette fantastique compilation des succès de Clegg.

Enregistré sur une période de 18 soirs au Théâtre Nelson Mandela devant plus de 22 000 personnes, voici un disque en spectacle regroupant tous les succès du légendaire Johnny Clegg.

Il y raconte à travers les chansons extraites de différents moments de sa carrière, les débuts de son intérêt et son attachement profond pour la culture zulu à l’époque de l’apartheid et les différents évènements personnels qui y furent rattachés.La musique couvre donc la période JULUKA et SAVUKA. Un document sonore d’une valeur inestimable pour tous les fans de clegg amsi aussi pour tous les fans de musique !

In september 2003 Johnny Clegg staged a unique audio-visual, auto-biographical narrative titled « Johnny Clegg - a South African story « .

The show was wildly successful with Clegg and friends playing to 22 000 people over 18 shows at the theatre. Telling stories about the early development of his interest in zulu migrant culture together with the songs that came out of the various periods, Clegg shared personal moments re counting the struggle to maintain his friendship and connnection to the migrant labour community during the apartheid years.

The stories were accompanied by over head projection of documentary footage of many aspects of zulu traditional culture that shaped Clegg’s brand of cross over music. The music spans the JULUKA AND SAVUKA periods and a number of live recordings were made over the performance period. The best of the live performances were selected and appear on this unique recording.
