This captivating new acoustic album from vocalist Dawn Tyler Watson and guitarist Paul Deslauriers is a pleasure from start to finish. A kind of musical holiday, the pair decided to take time off from their respective groups and to make an unpretentious, heartfelt record, without bass or drums, stripping their sound down to the barebones of voice and guitar. The repertoire includes some of rock’s finest songwriting, from The Miracles to Bruce Cockburn and from Steve Earle to Led Zeppelin, with some originals (by Dawn) added for good measure.

The result is fabulous. In this day and age of digital manipulation and computer-generated overkill, this album takes us back to simpler times of front porch style musical honesty – it’s a totally organic blend of folk, rock, roots and blues at its best.

Paul Deslauriers, réputé pour son jeu électrique et un des membres fondateurs de Black Cat Bone, dévoile un style acoustique dénudé bien à lui. On lui a demandé à plusieurs reprises de tourner avec les plus grands noms de la chanson, dont Amanda Marshall, France D’Amours et Garou.
