Album Details

Bulgarian-born guitarist/composer Lubo Alexandrov has developed a unique musical style, merging Bulgarian, Turkish and Gypsy musical traditions with jazz elements. Interestingly, he's one of the few musicians in the world playing the fretless guitar, an instrument that easily lends itself to the interpretation of ethnic music. Alexandrov's musical voyage between Balkan music and other world traditions has culminated in the fulfillment of his creative dream - The Kaba Horo Ensemble.

The name Kaba Horo is made of the Turkish word "kaba" (low, rough) and the Bulgarian word "horo" (traditional Bulgarian dance) evoking the energetic/wild, ethnic flavor of the music and the diversity of musical influences on the sound of the ensemble. In the producer's chair (with Alexandrov) is Ramachandra Borcar, a.k.a. DJ Ram, who brings his own multi-ethnic musical sensibilities to the proceedings.
